So what are some of the benefits of water exercise? Studies show that participants can make significant gains in strength and agility. Using foam weights, endurance is increased by moving the weights through the water. As our bodies are subject to water resistance during aqua exercise, the joints naturally increase their range of motion and flexibility. The buoyancy of the water helps relieve some of the impact we place on our joints, relieving pressure placed on our joints from normal wear-and-tear as well as arthritis.
Walking along the beach or enjoying ocean vistas can be one of the most soothing activities to some, relieving stress. Being in the water can be just as relaxing! Aqua exercise can significantly decrease anxiety and negative mood states. Water resistance is not just a buoyancy feature to help work the muscles; water pressure actually enables blood flow to circulate more effectively throughout the body.
