Tony Hawk, one of the most influential pioneers in the world of modern skateboarding, landed at La Costa Glen recently to share his sports and business experiences before a packed audience of residents and staff.
Nicknamed the "Chairman of the Board" for his decades-long domination of the sport and groundbreaking tricks, Hawk gave a talk called "From Athlete to International Business Tycoon" as part of La Costa Glen's ongoing "Sports Night" series.
Hawk had another good reason for visiting La Costa Glen: his mother, Nancy Hawk, is a resident of the Carlsbad community. Mrs. Hawk, a former business teacher, shared stories of Tony's childhood, his drive to succeed and the challenges of being the mother of a world-class athlete.
