Do you think you're "not ready yet" for retirement? Say you're 70, 75 or even 80...and still resisting the idea. Meet Edna Baldwin, resident of La Costa Glen, a very special lady. To celebrate her 90th birthday, Edna went skydiving.
To quote our heroine, "If you sit in a rocking chair, you fade away." Like Edna, the many residents of La Costa Glen are indeed retired, but they are seldom retiring. Edna just happens to be the supreme example. She has been parasailing, hang gliding, and was once co-piloting a plane in the famous Powder Puff Derby, a cross-country air race.
Even though Edna has spent plenty of time in the air, her feet are very much on the ground. These days, this 90-year-old plays golf, bowls and works out in the La Costa Glen fitness center three times a week. This is not what some folks think of as "retirement." However, since Edna's story made the front page of the San Diego Union-Tribune, other La Costa Glen residents are planning to make a skydiving jump. Do you think they'll manage to get a good group rate?
It just goes to prove that retirement can be the most invigorating time of your life. La Costa Glen Carlsbad is definitely not your grandma's old folks' home! The many wellness programs and health benefits are among the finest. One saying around campus is, "Get involved, stay active and join the fun." Residents can be as engaged as they wish. There's something here for everyone.
Edna is never one to sit on the sidelines of life. As a matter of fact, she plans to go skydiving again, when she turns 100. She is truly an inspiration to us all!
