July Display Cases

Share

By Jen Krail

Fairway cases will feature two different resident displays. Hilde Whittlesey of Seabreeze will display her collection of birds and seashells. Coming from a family of nature lovers, it was normal for her to develop an interest in flora and fauna, both wild and domestic. Some shells were gifts from family and others she bought on her own. When they lived in Florida, she collected many from aptly named Shell Key. The island was covered with water at high tide and shells were deposited there. Her football playing husband made an interesting sight walking with a child's toy bucket looking for shells when they visited. Also on display, are Mel Kerner's photos from the rose calendar he created. When he first moved to La Costa Glen, he was particularly impressed by the beautiful rose gardens. To preserve that enjoyment throughout the year, he took out his camera and photographed the flowers up close and personal and decided to make a calendar, choosing a different rose for each month. On the front of the rose calendar it states "Life doesn’t promise you a rose garden, but we do at La Costa Glen!"

Members of La Costa Glen's Photography Club will display their favorite photographs in the Lakeside display cases. The club meets once month on the second Monday at 2:00pm in the Fairway Clubhouse to discuss their latest photos, learn more about their cameras and get answers to any current picture problems.
