Our Mail Carrier Shirley

Share By Jim Raymond Shirley Fahring has been our postal letter carrier for the past two years. She grew up in Tustin, California, is married and has a daughter. She started her postal career in 1977 in the Santa Ana District and has held several different positions within the Postal Service. In the mid-90s her husband accepted a job in New Haven, Connecticut and her family relocated. After four years on the East Coast, she and her family returned to California. She loves living and working in Carlsbad. She enjoys being the carrier for LCG and hopes to stay here for the duration...

July Display Cases

Share By Jen Krail Fairway cases will feature two different resident displays. Hilde Whittlesey of Seabreeze will display her collection of birds and seashells. Coming from a family of nature lovers, it was normal for her to develop an interest in flora and fauna, both wild and domestic. Some shells were gifts from family and others she bought on her own. When they lived in Florida, she collected many from aptly named Shell Key. The island was covered with water at high tide and shells were deposited there. He began his career in public safety in 1983, initially as a paramedic with Medivac Ambulance Inc., but quickly transitioned to firefighter/paramedic with the Poway Fire Department. In 1986 he joined the Carlsbad Fire Department and advanced through the organization, holding positions of increasing responsibility. In 2002, he was promoted to Fire Chief. The Japanese Friendship Garden

Share By Carole Eibelheuser Thursdays are "Skipper Trip" days at LCG, a wonderful way to explore what's happening out there. Every other month there is a "Skipper Trip" to Balboa Park. This magical place with its many areas to visit is home to many gardens. Because of the March 2011 devastation in Japan, this writer thought it would be nice to write about the Japanese Friendship Garden, a place of peace, serenity, and spectacular beauty.
