Wilma Boggs
Our wonderful neighbor,
Wilma Boggs, was the very first resident to move into La Costa Glen.
In 1998, Wilma Boggs saw an ad in the newspaper for La Costa Glen. She came to the red barn, the only building here, met with Mimi from Marketing and put her deposit down soon after. Wilma moved in on June 17, 2002, the day the Occupancy Permit from Carlsbad was approved. There were no other residents to greet her, but when she arrived, all the staff of LCG was lined up to shake her hand and welcome her.
Wilma had no neighbors for the first few days, so her daughter stayed with her. They didn’t realize that there was a public trail beyond the LCG fence. After unpacking boxes, she and her daughter sat out on her patio to relax, each with a glass of wine. They were surprised as walkers on that trail greeted them. Wilma told her daughter, "They can see in. We need to put sheets over the windows."
It was six months before the dining room opened. When it did, David Armour was the Dining Room Manager.
Wilma moved from a ranch in Poway, where she grew avocados, oranges, pears and exotic Asian fruit for 26 years. Her green thumb is evident by all the healthy plants in and around her villa on Buckthorn Court and her skills are put to good use on LCG’s Rose Committee.
