Toy drive organizers (L-R): Paul Cook, Darolyn Jorgensen-Kares, our 2009 Marine representative and June Cook.
This year the Rotary Club of Camp Pendleton is asking us for help by providing toys for the children of Camp Pendleton Marine families. These toys will be distributed at Camp Pendleton only and will meet the needs of children whose father or mother is on active duty overseas. Many of these families are on food stamps and have little left over for toys.

In 1948, the Marines established a nationwide toy drive that was a complete success and have brought the joy of the holidays to America’s needy children. LCG’s enthusiastic volunteers, June and Paul Cook, have been collecting toys and contributions here at La Costa Glen for eight years. They will chair the “Santa’s Surprises” project this year. The collection boxes will be located in the Fairway and Lakeside clubhouse lobbies. Toys and checks will be accepted.

Last year, residents generously donated $15,000 and hundreds of toys to the Marines. The checks in lieu of toys may be made payable to “Rotary Club of Camp Pendleton.”

In addition, a dollhouse, built by John Morris and decorated by Janet Klaus will be auctioned off to raise additional funds. Many thanks to these volunteers and generous contributors for their help in making Christmas a happier time for the children.
