The Activities Committee, chaired by
Fran Swenson, is one of the largest in LCG. Under the guidance of Activities Director Michele Chaffee, members meet every month to discuss and evaluate all of the activities offered to the residents. The main focus is on performers and speakers, but sub-committee groups such as Bingo, Bridge, Art, Tap, Readers Theatre, Golf, Tennis, Glenaires, Kazoo band and more are represented.
Noreen Weber also sits on the committee as a Resident Council representative.
Michele distributes the results of the monthly Activities survey for discussion. They look back at the previous month’s parties, lectures and performers and make decisions based on resident feedback. They also plan at least four months in advance for performers here.
Fran takes the sub-committee reports and helps deal with any special requests. She is always looking for input from the committee for program ideas.
Michele and Fran try to prescreen all new performers by listening to their music on CD or getting a recommendation from a resident. Members of this committee also volunteer to stand up in front of Catalina Hall and introduce the speakers and performers each week.
It is a committee to be commended and applauded for its endeavors to please the residents.
