Lakeside waterfall: crows' birdbath - no blue herons allowed! Picture by Vahac Mardirosian
As you walk the paths of La Costa Glen do you ever wonder how it can remain so beautiful? At almost every turn there is another sight to stop and enjoy.
Well, here are some answers for you. Susan Angonia is in charge of tending the plants and trees in the many corners of our community. She leads 13 men who work every day on our property. These men do many chores besides the obvious caring for our lawns. They re-plant beds of flowers, they trim hedges, weed, adjust sprinklers and watch for leaks or breaks in water lines.
Meantime, Susan is on the property nearly every day making note of what needs doing. Susan has a notebook where she has records of various plantings. If we were ordering thousands of new plants at one time, we too, would need a notebook.
The Angonias have made the business of landscaping a family affair. They now service 27 properties around North County and Orange County. Their daughter plans the color beds and one son is in charge of all irrigation systems.
LCG is the largest property they tend, but Susan says their first job is to make the residents happy and then management and the owners.
It is an awesome task, one involving an unbelievable amount of plant material, but Susan is proud of the work they do. And so are we!
P.S. There are an estimated 2,000 palm trees on the property and between 600 and 700 large trees. Thought you might like to know.
