This committee meets once a month under the chairmanship of
Carolyn Lawson. There are 16 members and they look to Glenn Thomas (our popular Manager of Safety) to give suggestions they feel should be brought to the attention of management.
This group also assists the Safety Department in educating residents in such areas as emergency preparedness and pedestrian and vehicle traffic control issues. There are times when a fall by a resident will focus their attention on suggestions for removing a curb or circumventing a planting area that might cause a problem. They sponsored a recent Safety Fair for owners of scooters and golf carts where they registered golf carts and reviewed LCG’s operating policies and rules with the owners. They are presently in the process of designing decals for all motorized vehicles.
From time to time issues arise, i.e. resident accidents, fire safety, and visual safety of vehicular traffic after dark. These caring neighbors are just another reminder of how well we are looked after day and night...for our wellbeing and safety.
Note from the Safety Dept.: Glen Thomas is presently conducting classes for all staff members who have responsibility for direct patient care to be certified in CPR and defibrillator use.
