Thirsty Thursdays

- By Sharon Wood - My husband Nic and I live happily in Hillside, the only free standing apartment building here at La Costa Glen.  When we moved in over two years ago I decided to instigate “Thirsty Thursdays” in our own Hermosa Room on the second floor.  This has become the weekly gathering spot for as many as 42 residents.  Our goal is to foster a true sense of community and friendship among our three floors.   Our motto is: “you can’t care about people you don’t know.”  And we indeed are a caring group!  This has proven to be so...

Busy Needles Provide Touch of Comfort

Every Tuesday morning, the “Busy Needles” club at La Costa Glen Carlsbad gathers for about an hour to knit baby caps for newborns, caps and scarves for cancer patients, and afghan blankets for our troops overseas.  Roughly 12-15 knitters gather each week to knit items for Tri City Hospital, Encinitas Hospital and La Jolla Veterans Hospital. The group donated more than 2,000 baby caps to Tri City alone last year.
