The majority of La Costa Glen’s residents will be spending their holidays on campus or being with family in close-by towns.
Virginia and Ray Ptak will have a Christmas Eve dinner party for 29 relatives in the Malibu private dining room. There will be four great-grandchildren under the age of four, and ten grandchildren. Besides California family members, there will also be others from Idaho, Montana and Arizona.
Betty Brown will again have her stunning seven foot Christmas tree decorated with her 30 year collection of gold and crystal decorations. She has 150 Danbury Mint and Waterford decorations. There are also 12 from the White House collection. Her three grandchildren are fascinated with her gold motorized spinning airplane ornaments. Betty’s son sets up the tree, then she spends two days decorating it.
Wanda Bartlett will be spending Christmas with her family in Fallbrook and then go on a four-month cruise, with family members joining her on different segments of the cruise.
In the New Year, Shirley Collins, her three daughters and one son-in-law will go on a 20-day cruise starting in Singapore. They will visit Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, Qatar and fly home from Dubai.
Joan and Ben Widmer, Jeanne Tatum, Dottie Jirgal, Lou Yergat and her twin sister will start the New Year at an Elderhostel in Palm Springs. They will attend the annual Film Festival for a week.
